Terms of Service

Last Updated: 3/1/25

Welcome to Mug!

At Mug, our mission is to bring you and your friends closer by capturing real, unfiltered reactions. We want to create a space where you can share moments authentically and connect in a fun and engaging way.

To make that possible, we want to be transparent about what it means to be part of the Mug community. These Terms of Service (“Terms”), along with our Privacy Policy and Community Standards (collectively, the “User Agreement”), outline what you can expect from us, what we expect from you, and how we can work together to make Mug a great experience.

By using our services, you agree to be bound by the User Agreement. If you don’t agree with these Terms, please do not use our services.

1. Who Can Use Mug?

Mug is for real people—no AI or bots allowed. To use Mug, you must be a real human (because real reactions matter):

  • At least 13 years old. If you’re under the age of consent in your country, a parent or guardian may need to provide consent for you to use Mug.
  • Legally authorized to create an account on behalf of another person, business, organization, or legal entity if you’re not signing up for yourself.

In this agreement, “you” refers to both the individual user and, if applicable, the person or entity legally responsible for an account created on behalf of someone else.

2. Data Protection & Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how it’s used, and when it’s shared. By using Mug, you agree that we may collect, store, process, and transfer your data as needed to provide our services—including sharing it with trusted partners who help us keep Mug running.

3. Content

Mug is all about real reactions and authentic moments—don’t steal content or spread negativity. Be real. Be kind. Be respectful. Be you.

Content includes profile pictures, photos, videos, Mugshots, reactions, emojis, captions, comments, and messages shared on Mug.

You are fully responsible for any Content you share on Mug, which means:

  • You must have the right to use it.
  • It must follow all applicable laws, regulations, and our Terms of Service.

If your Content violates these rules, we have the right to remove it—no complaints.

Mug has zero tolerance for harassment, threats, hate speech, child exploitation, self-harm promotion, or any illegal activity. See our Community Guidelines for more details.

Who Owns Your Content?

You own the Content you share on Mug, but by posting it, you give us permission to use it in specific ways:

  • Friends-Only Content: Content shared only with your friends stays private. If you voluntarily choose to let Mug use it for marketing (e.g., app promotions or advertising), you’ll need to grant us permission first.
  • Public Content: If you share Content publicly on Mug, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute it across different media. This means your Content may be featured in promotions, broadcasts, or partnerships—with no additional compensation, as your use of Mug is considered sufficient value in return.

At Mug, authenticity matters—so keep it real, and keep it respectful. 🚀

4. Reporting Violative Content

Mug is a space for authentic, real connections—but we rely on our community to help keep it safe. While we don’t actively monitor every piece of Content, anything that violates someone’s rights, breaks the law, or goes against our Terms of Service (“Violative Content”) is strictly prohibited.

If you come across Violative Content, you can report it using the reporting feature in the app or through our website’s reporting form.

If someone has copied your Content in a way that infringes your intellectual property rights, you can report it directly in the app or via our intellectual property reporting form on our website.
